A couple weeks ago I had the best time at a Sunday afternoon tea party with some lovely ladies from work! We got all dressed up and a tea hat was a must! Being that I have short hair and I never have been a hat girl, I decided just to whip up a dainty little lace hat for the party.

I should have taken photos of how I made it, but I didn’t sorry. All I did was basically took a section of lace (left over from my Madonna Halloween costume) stood in front of the mirror and bunched it all up until it laid across my head the way I liked it. Then I took a needle and thread and stitched the gatherings in place. Next, I took this rather crazy looking blob of lace and sewed it to a black headband. I clipped on a couple black flower pins, cut off the excess lace and voilà! Perfect tea hat!

We each brought a dessert to the party as it was a cookie exchange too. I told you it was a great party: tea and chocolate! I brought these little chocolate cake balls on this wonderful shabby chic tray that my mom bought me (she is the best!).
After having such a great time dressing up, sipping tea and eating way too much chocolate I wondered: Why don’t we have tea parties more often?
I have fallen more and more in love with lace jewelry! These are from one of my favorite etsy shops White Owl. They have so many great designs in amazing deep, rich colors. If you want some inspiration or you just want to take a few minutes out of your day to look at something beautiful, head over to their shop.

Love the idea of wrapping a present in lace. The wrapping and presentation of the gift can be almost as much fun as the gift itself!
